Covid 19 Resilient Philippines
It’s been a year since we got stuck in our homes. The effects of COVID-19 are being felt all over the daily news littered with statistic, families worried about starving, citizens anxious to get back to normal, and in the Philippines struggling to do so to keep their economy afloat. As with the major world event, this is a major turning point in human history
When the next generation look back, they will judge us by how we fared in the fight against this pandemic. We are all feeling the brunt of COVID-19 the latest forecast from the world bank assumes that the Philippines GDP will shrink by -1.9 in 2020.Experts also say that it will take at least a year for our economy to recover the pre- COVID-19 levels. We mass see layoffs and closing in tourism and hospitality. Remittances are drying up as thousands of Filipino Overseas Worker are returned to their homes while business process outsourcing companies grapple with business interruptions and the threat of closure of the businesses they serve.
To overcome the current crisis and keep hopes and dreams of the Filipino people alive, we need to rethink to self- sustain by looking inward and always praying to god.
