Mother's Day is a holiday celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day celebrates mothers, motherhood, and maternal bonds in general, as well as their contributions to their families. Mothers only want their children to grow up to be strong, healthy, safe, and educated. They've been by our side since the beginning.   Mother's Day is a day when people reflect on the value and importance of all mothers in their lives. It is a day when all mothers are given flowers, presents, or other tokens of appreciation simply to acknowledge their contribution to the world. Mother is most likely the one with all of the power. A mother is the most powerful creature in the world!! In every situation, she can handle and control everything. In many other words, Lord has granted her the authority to handle all of the world's concerns. A single Mother's Day celebration is insufficient to express gratitude to all of the world's mothers. At any cost, no one ...

BINATBATAN FESTIVAL

Image
Binatbatan Festival traces its roots from the abel weaving industry of Vigan which has been in existence even before the Spaniards came to colonize the Philippines. It comes from the word batbat, a pair of bamboo stick used to separate cotton pods that come from a tall tree called kapas sanglay.   The catholic faithful also remembers on this day St. Joseph, patron saint of workers. The first-day commemoration is followed by the Binatbatan Festival celebrations, which includes a street dancing competition. Binatbatan dancing is connected to Vigan's abel Iloco craft. Binatbatan” is the process of beating cotton pods to remove the seeds for Abel weaving. Which locals interpreted into an occupational dance with the use of two sticks called ”batbat”. Binabatan street dance is one of the main attractions during the week-long celebrations.   This festival paid tribute to the old Ilocanos. Binatbatan is an Ilocano dance that illustrates the beginning stages in the weaving proc...

WITHIN A WOMAN VOICE, THERE IS A POWER TO CREATE CHANCES

Image
Women play an important role in society and the whole family is dependent on women for  it’s daily activities. They play the role of  mother, wife, homemaker, cook, teacher,  friend, nurse all at the same time while catering to every body’s needs. Working woman has to fulfill their job responsibilities while managing their home and taking care of their families. It is very  hard task but they get little or no appreciation. There are a lot of  women who are extremely talented and multitasker but have no recognition in the society. One of the major hindrances in the growth and advancement of women in gender  inequality. This means that we treat males  and females unequally even for the same task. A male child is always encouraged by family to go to school, while the female child is told to learn household works. Further, woman empowerment means  women should be able to make decisions for their own lives. Women should be given  equal voic...

LENTEN SEASON

Most Christians regard the Lenten season as an opportunity to give up a meal that we tend to eat frequently or too quickly between meals. However, the true and unique purpose of lent is to place ourselves within the realm of our savior, Jesus Christ. He was stranded in the wilderness for 40 days with no food. On countless times, he became enticed using the devil. For the remission of our sins, he sacrificed his very existence while on the road. The purpose of those 40 days, as much as Christ's resurrection, is to assign ourselves. To give up or devote oneself to something other than the usual. Lent is a time when we shall all offer compassion and hospitality in various ways. Jesus didn't live his entire life so that we may hate one another. Lent is a season of sacrifice as well. We have the option of sacrificing something vital to us during this season. I used to give up the things that were the easiest to give up when I was younger, such as meals that I rarely ate. Attendin...

THIS IS HOW WE CELEBRATE WITH A SMILE

Image
Although the pandemic presented many challenges, the City of Vigan managed to keep the Heritage City's Christmas spirit alive by establishing a new normal in which the majority of events were conducted online and others were limited in attendance to meet the city's covid-19 task force's minimum health standards. A traditional Filipino Christmas sign, the lantern, also known as a parol, has become one of the city's festive highlights. They use discarded materials to manufacture the greatest Ilocano lanterns. The lamps were then set along Calle Crisologo. To stop the spread of covid-19, a competition called Inter-Barangay was conducted for all gifted contestants, with the judges personally visiting them in their barangays to evaluate their entries and distribute awards.  With the Covid 19 outbreak, we still find solutions to make people smile and have a good time around Christmas. We may be affected by the epidemic, but it will not prevent us from experiencing the tr...

BETTER THAN BEFORE

Image
I'd like to improve my ego. I don't want to push towards being the greatest since I know it would never offer me genuine satisfaction. To add insult to injury, I've never wanted to be the most successful person in my life. I want to be better than who I was a year ago, not better than who I was a year ago. Every new year is a new beginning, an opportunity, a hope for something better to come along in the future. Despite the fact that 2021 has been a difficult year for me, it has formed me into the person I am today. Due to many causes, I'm a short-tempered person, and I hate myself for it, therefore I'm going to try and be positive from now on. I wanted to keep my options open and guarantee that I could manage all of the topics in which I was failing.

NEW SITUATION DURING HOLIDAY

Image
COVID spreads through gatherings, and we are especially vulnerable during holidays, when we may be tempted to leave our core bubbles to visit others. We must resist this temptation, however, and instead stay safely at home this year. Holiday is a wonderful day to celebrate since it is a time for everyone to gather, socialize, and unite as a family. Sharing, giving presents, and most importantly, offering gratitude to our Almighty God, who is always there to teach, comfort, and most importantly, bless those who trust in him and adhere to him.   Create room in our hearts for the infant Jesus, let our life reflect Christ's presence, and let God's peace pervade our homes. If we have a lot of faith, hope, and love, we will all be able to get through this crisis together.
