THIS IS HOW WE CELEBRATE WITH A SMILE

Although the pandemic presented many challenges, the City of Vigan managed to keep the Heritage City's Christmas spirit alive by establishing a new normal in which the majority of events were conducted online and others were limited in attendance to meet the city's covid-19 task force's minimum health standards.

A traditional Filipino Christmas sign, the lantern, also known as a parol, has become one of the city's festive highlights. They use discarded materials to manufacture the greatest Ilocano lanterns. The lamps were then set along Calle Crisologo. To stop the spread of covid-19, a competition called Inter-Barangay was conducted for all gifted contestants, with the judges personally visiting them in their barangays to evaluate their entries and distribute awards.

With the Covid 19 outbreak, we still find solutions to make people smile and have a good time around Christmas. We may be affected by the epidemic, but it will not prevent us from experiencing the true spirit of the season. This, as well as every other Christmas, is worth remembering.
