WITHIN A WOMAN VOICE, THERE IS A POWER TO CREATE CHANCES

 


Women play an important role in society and the whole family is dependent on women for  it’s daily activities. They play the role of  mother, wife, homemaker, cook, teacher,  friend, nurse all at the same time while catering to every body’s needs. Working woman has to fulfill their job responsibilities while managing their home and taking care of their families. It is very  hard task but they get little or no appreciation. There are a lot of  women who are extremely talented and multitasker but have no recognition in the society.


One of the major hindrances in the growth and advancement of women in gender  inequality. This means that we treat males  and females unequally even for the same task. A male child is always encouraged by family to go to school, while the female child is told to learn household works. Further, woman empowerment means  women should be able to make decisions for their own lives. Women should be given  equal voice and opportunity to decide for economic and financial matters within the  family, in workplace as well as in the community.  They do not need to take permission from men.


Currently, various organizations and government agencies are making efforts to empower women by creating gender awareness. Our society is slowly changing. More and more women are getting quality education, elected in government positions, earning awards and achievements as much as men do. But the true meaning of women empowerment will be achieved when gender inequality will be eliminated. We need to give equal opportunities to women and the same respect we give to men.

  Most Christians regard the Lenten season as an opportunity to give up a meal that we tend to eat frequently or too quickly between meals. However, the true and unique purpose of lent is to place ourselves within the realm of our savior, Jesus Christ. He was stranded in the wilderness for 40 days with no food. On countless times, he became enticed using the devil. For the remission of our sins, he sacrificed his very existence while on the road. BINATBATAN FESTIVAL

Binatbatan Festival traces its roots from the abel weaving industry of Vigan which has been in existence even before the Spaniards came to colonize the Philippines. It comes from the word batbat, a pair of bamboo stick used to separate cotton pods that come from a tall tree called kapas sanglay.   The catholic faithful also remembers on this day St. Joseph, patron saint of workers. The first-day commemoration is followed by the Binatbatan Festival celebrations, which includes a street dancing competition. Binatbatan dancing is connected to Vigan's abel Iloco craft. Binatbatan” is the process of beating cotton pods to remove the seeds for Abel weaving. Which locals interpreted into an occupational dance with the use of two sticks called ”batbat”.
